Moravian College (& Theological Seminary) is a private liberal arts college and seminary located in Bethlehem, which is a city in Lehigh and Northampton Counties, in the Lehigh Valley region, of eastern Pennsylvania state, USA, with more than 72 000 people, living within its limits, at the time of the 2008 census estimate, making it the state's 6th largest city.
The college was established in 1742 and traces its roots back to the first school for young women in the U.S. - the Bethlehem Female Seminary, which was founded in 1742 in Germantown, PA, by Benigna, Countess von Zinzendorf, the daughter of Count Nikolaus Ludwig Zinzendorf.
In 1954 the school adopted its current form and since then has consistently grown. It presently offers its students various educational opportunities, which lead to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Music, its most popular departments being Biology, English, Education, Psychology, Economics and Business, Sociology, Music, and Art.
Moravian's athletic teams are known as the Greyhounds and they compete in NCAA Division III, in 8 men's and 9 women's sports. Their distinctive colors are blue and gray.
